UNCOMMON LANE | TERMS OF SERVICE

 

Updated: Hire + Selling (2026)


By booking a rack, purchasing a garment, or hiring through Uncommon Lane, you are agreeing to the following Terms of Service. These terms apply whether you are a seller, buyer, or renter. Uncommon Lane reserves the right to update these terms at any time.

 


 

SELLING TERMS

Your Booking

 

  • The Full Lane – $285 for up to 40 hanging items + 2 accessories

  • The Mini Lane – $150 for up to 10 hanging items + 1 accessory

    Uncommon Lane retains a 10% commission on total sales. The remaining 90% will be transferred to your nominated account within 7 days of your rack’s end date.

    We provide a clothing rack and hangers.

 

Promotion & Marketing

By booking a rack or entering the Uncommon space, you agree that your clothing may be featured in promotional content. This includes (but is not limited to) social media, print, online content, or styled shoots created by Uncommon Lane or with collaborating brands.

Rack Use

 

  • Your rack must stay within the agreed number of items at any one time.

  • You’re welcome to top up your rack throughout the month.

  • All items must be tagged with your full name, item description, and price.

  • Shared racks must clearly identify which seller each tag belongs to.

 

Weekly Updates & Final Sales

 

  • You’ll receive weekly sales updates during your booking.

  • Swing tags from sold items will be available in-store and can be collected on pick up day (they may be disposed of after).

  • Final payouts are made via bank transfer within 7 days of your rack’s final day.

 

Drop-Off & Pick-Up

You are required to deliver and collect items during your allocated bump-in and bump-out window (provided via confirmation email) and when you book. 

Uncollected Items

If your clothing is not collected within 7 days of your booking end date and we haven’t heard from you, your items will be donated to our Common Good Rack — a curated collection that gives back to local causes and charities.


Item Approval

Uncommon Lane reserves the right to reject or remove items that:

  • Are damaged, stained or do not align with our brand.

  • Are from fast fashion retailers (e.g. Shein, Fashion Nova, Anko).

    Proof of authenticity may be requested for high-end designer items.

 

Safety & Responsibility

While we take care in managing your pieces, Uncommon Lane is not responsible for loss, theft or damage due to fire, water, or any unforeseen circumstance.

Items must be collected on time. Any items left behind are not the responsibility of Uncommon Lane.

Legal Bits

By booking a rack, you agree to these terms. If you are selling on behalf of someone or sharing a rack, you accept these terms for all parties involved. You are responsible for any relevant taxes, including GST.

 


 

 

HIRE TERMS

 

Payment / Collection

All hire fees must be paid in full to secure your booking. The fee includes garment hire and any add-ons. Failure to pay will result in cancellation, and future hire access may be revoked.

By hiring, you authorise Uncommon Lane to charge your selected payment method for the booking, and for any late fees, damage, or replacement costs outlined below.


Garment Ownership

All garments remain the property of Uncommon Lane. You are hiring, not purchasing, the garment.

Cancellations / Late Returns

  • Hires are non-refundable after collection.

  • Cancel 7+ days prior = store credit (valid 12 months)

  • Cancel less than 3 days = no credit/refund

  • No-shows = cancellation with no refund

  • Late returns incur $20 per day

  • If late return results in cancellation of another hire, you will be charged that booking’s value

  • Non-payment of late fees may be sent to debt collection

If It Doesn’t Fit

Let us know within 24 hours of delivery.

  • You’ll receive a store credit minus a 20% restocking fee.

  • Credit redemptions are not eligible for further credits if the same issue occurs.

 

Garment Care & Cleaning

Cleaning is included in your hire fee.

 

  • Do not attempt to clean, alter or iron garments

  • You may steam on low heat only

  • Be cautious with fake tan, perfume, makeup, drinks, etc.

  • Tag removal = automatic RRP charge

 

Damage & Loss

 

  • Minor damage: cleaning or repair fee applies

  • Major damage: you will be charged 100% of RRP

  • Lost, stolen or unreturned items (after 7 days): 200% of RRP

    All fees must be paid within 5 days of return date.

 

Shipping

 

  • Express shipping is available for $15

  • Book 3–5 business days before your event to allow delivery

  • If booked late and shipped on time but doesn’t arrive, no refund is issued

  • Once AusPost confirms delivery, the item is your responsibility

  • Unreturned items will incur 120% RRP charge, due within 5 days

 

Buy Now Items

  • Final sale only, no refunds

  • Garment condition will be accurately described

  • Pick-up or $15 express shipping available

  • Shipping refunded only if pick-up is arranged before it’s sent

 

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate access to Uncommon Hire at any time for breach of these terms.

Liability

Uncommon Lane is not liable for allergic reactions, sensitivities or other issues relating to garments worn by previous customers. All garments are professionally cleaned before each hire.

 


 

Final Notes

Uncommon Lane may update these terms at any time. By booking a rack, placing a hire order, or making a purchase, you agree to the most recent version of these terms.
